The frequency of your exercise should be at least 3 times a week on nonconsecutive days to develop and maintain a good level of cardiovascular fitness. If you are exercising to lose weight as well as to improve fitness, you can increase the frequency to more days or increase the duration of your exercise to burn more calories.
If you have trouble finding the time to exercise, remember that all it takes is 30 minutes 3 days a week to improve your fitness level greatly. Most people don't have to exercise every day, but you may want to if you are trying to lose weight.
Think of ways to fit exercise into your regular routine.
- Could you walk for 1/2 hour while the kids are taking music lessons?
- Could you schedule one session on the weekend and two during the week?
- Can you walk during your morning and afternoon breaks?
Remember, you can be successful with a little determination, time management and creativity.
